Matías Munín Giadáns
Percussionist Matías Munín Giadáns, from Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain), is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague, where he studies with Theun van Nieuwburg, Niels Meliefste, Hans Zonderop, and Pepe García. He previously completed his Conservatorio Profesional diploma under the guidance of Juan Collazo and Antonio Risco.
Rooted in the traditional music of Galicia from an early age, he developed a deep passion for orchestral and ensemble playing, as well as for contemporary and solo repertoire. His experience spans symphonic works, chamber music, and projects influenced by jazz and folk traditions.
He has further broadened his training through masterclasses with leading percussionists including Bence Major, Noè Rodrigo, Marc Braafhart, Nick Woud, Marinus Komst, and Alexej Gerassimez. He also gained valuable experience with the OJSG (Youth Galician Symphony Orchestra) and NJO (Nationaal Jeugd Orkest).
In the 2025/26 season, he joins the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra as an academist, an opportunity to deepen his orchestral experience, learn from the percussion section, and contribute with energy and enthusiasm to the orchestra’s musical projects.
