Mar Bonet Silvestre
Mar Bonet Silvestre is a Spanish cellist born in Valencia in 1998 and raised in Madrid, where she began studying music at the age of four with her mother. She later studied with Pilar Navarro, Adolfo Gutiérrez, and Raúl Pinillos, completing her training at the Adolfo Salazar Conservatory, where she received the Spanish National Prize in Musical Studies.
At 17, she was admitted to the Reina Sofía School of Music, studying with Ivan Monighetti, Jens Peter Maintz, and Fernando Arias. She then completed her master's degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo under Torleif Thedéen, supported by an AIE scholarship. Her interest in Historically Informed Performance led her to pursue further baroque cello studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Viola de Hoog, Albert Brüggen, and Victor García.
Mar has performed extensively across Spain and Europe, both as a soloist and chamber musician, and has appeared in major venues such as the Spanish National Auditorium and the Norwegian Academy of Music. She has collaborated with ensembles like the Spanish National Youth Orchestra, EUYO, and the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. She was an academist at the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (2022–2023) and the Mahler Chamber Academy (2022–2024). As a baroque cellist, she has played with the European Union Baroque Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century.
In 2024, she joined the cello section of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. She continues to perform with her NOIES String Quartet and explores early music and improvisation with the interdisciplinary ensemble JUGLAR.
