Louis Baumann

Louis Baumann received his first oboe lessons from Christophe Le Divenah and then entered the class of Sébastien Giot at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg. After further specialization with Hélène Devilleneuve and Johannes Grosso, he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon in 2015, in the class of Jean-Louis Capezzali and Jérôme Guichard. After obtaining his bachelor's degree, he joined the Zurich Opera Academy in 2018 for two seasons under the mentorship of Bernhard Heinrichs. Simultaneously, Louis Baumann also played with the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. By the end of 2019, he was appointed first English horn of the Orchestre National de Metz, and then first oboe of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. In October 2021, he was awarded third prize in the Geneva Competition. He also plays on a regular basis with orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Zurich Opernhaus Orchester and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
