Dino Dragovic

Dino Dragovic was born in Belgrade and received his first violin lessons at the age of eight. At the age of 13, he became fascinated by the dark sound of the viola and decided to switch to this instrument. He participated in several national competitions in his country and was three consecutive times Laureate in the Competition of the Serbian State. Because of these competitions, he was considered as one of the leading viola players of his country in his generation.

He studied with Professor Thomas Riebl at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst "Mozarteum" in Salzburg. He was also taught by Ulrich Knoerzer (Berliner Philharmoniker) and Milan Radic (Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg). He completed his studies at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp with Pro. Leo De Neve, where he graduated with distinction in 2018.

Already during his studies in Salzburg, he showed great interest in chamber music. He played chamber music concerts with various ensembles in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, France, China and Taiwan. The biggest influences on his chamber music were teachers such as Rainer Schmidt of the Hagen Quartet, Reinhard Goebel and Wolfgang Redick of the Mozarteum, Bujor Prelipcean of the Voces String Quartet and Stefan Schilli of the Bayerischer Rundfunk.

As the main goal of his career, Dino perfected himself as an orchestral musician. He played in the orchestra of the Tirolerfestspiele from 2011 to 2014, where he played all Wagner operas under the direction of maestro Gustav Kuhn. In 2015, he won the audition for tutti viola with Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen. In 2017, he became tutti viola player at Antwerp Symphony, where he has been performing full-time since January 2018.

In previous years, Dino has focused on teaching, where he focuses on the natural playing posture, phrasing, and on preparing students for orchestral auditions.
