The Colombian conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada, currently Chief Conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, is set to lead the Gürzenich-Orchester and Oper Köln as Music Director of the City of Cologne from the 2025/26 season. Following his training in Vienna, he built an impressive career as Chief Conductor of renowned ensembles such as the Houston Symphony and the Wiener Symphoniker, and is a frequent guest with world-class orchestras like the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonics. He is also a familiar face at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra; since his 2015 debut, he has led several prestigious projects, including opera productions at Dutch National Opera and the large-scale season opener Opening Night in Amsterdam.
