Dino Dragovic
Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, Dino Dragovic began playing the violin at the age of eight before discovering the viola at thirteen, drawn to its depth, warmth, and expressive range. This early decision shaped his artistic direction and established the instrument as his lifelong voice. As a young musician, he was a laureate of multiple national competitions, emerging as one of the most promising violists of his generation. He studied with Thomas Riebl at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and Leo De Neve at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. He was further taught by Ulrich Knörzer (Berliner Philharmoniker) and Milan Radič (Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg). As a chamber musician, he performed throughout Europe and Asia, appearing in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, France, China, and Taiwan. His chamber music formation was shaped by teachers including Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), Reinhard Goebel (Musica Antiqua Köln), Wolfgang Redik (Vienna Piano Trio), Bujor Prelipcean (Voces String Quartet), and Stefan Schilli (Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra). From 2011 to 2014, he was a member of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl Orchestra. Following a successful audition for the Flanders Symphony Orchestra in 2015, he won a position with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra in 2017. Alongside his orchestral career, Dino is increasingly dedicated to teaching. His pedagogical focus lies in natural posture, individual artistic development, and specialised preparation for orchestral auditions and excerpts. Dino Dragovic performs on a beautiful 2011 viola named Sommer, crafted by luthier Robert Blaszauer.
