Filip Rathé
Filip Rathé (1966) is a versatile Belgian conductor, composer, and musicologist who trained at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent and Ghent University. Since 1993, he has served as the artistic director of the contemporary music ensemble SPECTRA, with which he has toured internationally and conducted over 130 world premieres. In addition to his work with SPECTRA, he has appeared as a guest conductor with leading ensembles such as the Flanders Radio Choir and the Flanders Symphony Orchestra.
As a composer, Rathé frequently writes for voices and ensembles, with his works performed by prestigious groups including the Neue Vokalsolisten Stuttgart and Kremerata Baltica. His oeuvre includes notable pieces such as Das Utopias and the cycle No marmore de tua bunda. His compositions are characterised by close collaborations with top international musicians and a firm standing in the contemporary music scene.
