Joshua Ellicott

tenor (evangelist), tenor

British tenor Joshua Ellicott launched his international career in 2006 after winning multiple prizes at the International Vocal Competition in 's-Hertogenbosch. Since then, he has built a versatile career spanning opera, concert, and song, ranging from early music to contemporary repertoire. Praised by the New York Times as a "stand out," he collaborates worldwide with renowned conductors such as Sir Mark Elder and Esa-Pekka Salonen, as well as leading orchestras including the Philharmonia and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Ellicott is celebrated for his textual sensitivity and vocal flexibility, with a particular affinity for Bach’s Passions and roles in operas by Wagner and Berg. Alongside his operatic work, he has garnered acclaim for personal song programmes, including a moving project based on his great-uncle's First World War letters. This season, he continues his international engagements with performances for the Freiburger Barockorchester and various European festivals.
