Lisbeth Lannie
The Belgian violist Lisbeth Lannie has been a permanent member of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra since 2024, where she had already been active as a substitute since 2002.
Her musical journey began at the age of seven with violin lessons from Gaston Dekens. When she discovered the viola at the age of fifteen, she became a student of Leo De Neve. After successfully completing her master's studies at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, she continued her education at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, where she studied with Jürgen Kussmaul. Thanks to an Erasmus scholarship, she was also able to attend the Felix Mendelssohn Musikhochschule in Leipzig, in the class of Dietmar Hallmann.
Lisbeth attended masterclasses both at home and abroad with, among others, Andra Darzins, Gerald Stanick, and Thomas Riebl. She also gained extensive experience as a chamber musician. With her string quartet, she received lessons from renowned ensembles such as the Lindsay Quartet, the Keller Quartet, the Danel Quartet, the Artemis Quartet, and the Alban Berg Quartet.
Her passion for the orchestra began at the age of twelve when she became a member of the Junior Orchestra of Antwerp. Later, she played with various youth orchestras, including the Symphonic and Philharmonic Youth Orchestras of Flanders, the Young Philharmonic, the Dutch National Youth Orchestra, and the renowned European Union Youth Orchestra.
As an orchestral musician, Lisbeth has collaborated with Brussels Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Belgium, Symphony Orchestra Flanders, and Casco Phil. In addition, she is a sought-after studio musician for CD recordings and radio, television, and film productions.
Besides her classical activities, Lisbeth also feels at home on pop, rock, and jazz stages, where her broad musical interest and versatility come to the fore.
