Tim Mead
Tim Mead is globally acclaimed as one of the most prominent countertenors performing today. Critics from the likes of the New York Times and The Guardian have praised his "alluring" and "consistently excellent" vocal tone. He established his artistic foundations as a choral scholar at King’s College, Cambridge, before completing his vocal studies at the prestigious Royal College of Music.
Mead's career is defined by impressive interpretations of major Baroque roles, particularly in the operas of Handel. He has graced world-renowned stages such as the Royal Opera House, Opéra National de Paris, and the Nederlandse Reisopera. In 2023 and 2024 he performed significant roles at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam and the Bach Collegium Japan, alongside concerts with leading orchestras such as the Cleveland Orchestra and the Netherlands Bach Society.
In addition to his work on the opera stage, Mead is a highly sought-after soloist for concerts and oratorios, ranging from Bach’s St Matthew Passion to modern world premieres. He is also very active in the recording studio. He recently released his critically acclaimed debut solo album, Sacroprofano. This adds to an extensive discography that underscores his versatility in both sacred and secular music.
