Founded in 1947 and based in Cologne, the WDR Rundfunkchor is a world-renowned professional ensemble with a vast repertoire spanning from medieval music to contemporary film scores. The choir is particularly celebrated for its commitment to 20th and 21st-century music, having performed over 150 world premieres, including landmark works by composers such as Schoenberg, Stockhausen, and Penderecki. Under the baton of legendary conductors like Sir Simon Rattle and Mariss Jansons, the ensemble is a regular guest at prestigious international festivals such as the BBC Proms and the Salzburg Festival. Their artistic excellence was further recognised in 2012 when they received the Echo Klassik award for their recording of Ligeti's Requiem.
