Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition
Ten years ago, conductor Krzysztof Urbanski was still the new kid on the block. Nowadays he is considered one of the greatest young conductors on the scene, guesting with the Berliner Philharmoniker, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic, among others. In addition to conducting John Adams’s contemporary classic Short Ride in a Fast Machine, he will join forces with young American star violinist Benjamin Beilman for Samuel Barber’s relatively unknown but rightfully celebrated Violin Concerto. All the orchestral stops will then be pulled out for Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in Maurice Ravel’s peerless orchestration for a full symphony orchestra, including the majestic Bogatyr Gates as a finale. Discover the cream of the crop of a new generation of artists during this spectacular programme!
