Aldo Baerten

Aldo Baerten is flute solo at the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. He also teaches at the Conservatory of Antwerp and the Hogeschool der Kunsten in Utrecht, and gives master courses on four continents, including at the Royal Academy in London. He is a Powell Flute Artist.

Aldo Baerten is a regularly invited guest at the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, I Fiamminghi, the European Union Opera, the Arctic Philharmonic and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester, RSO Basel, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Orchestre de Chambre de Wallonie, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, the Las Vegas & Kansas City Symphony, Samai Sinfonietta and has worked under the direction of conductors such as D. Stern, V. Czarniecki, P. Rundel, G. Octors, Z. Nagy, T. Yuasa, S. Byess, E. Aadland, R. Wilson and S. Mäkkilä.

Aldo Baerten is a popular guest at festivals in Europe, Mexico, Russia and the United States, together with renowned partners such as José van Dam, Martin Helmchen, Severin Von Eckardstein, Alexei Ogrintchouk, Hervé Joulain, Storioni Trio, Michel Strauss, Martin Spangenberg, Niek de Groot, the Kandinsky Trio, Jana Bouskova, Dietrich Henschel, Matthias Buchholz and Jef Neve.

Aldo graduated as a soloist at the Brussels Conservatory with Prof. Peter-Lukas Graf (Musikhochschule Basel) and studied with Philippe Boucly at the R. Strauss-Konservatorium Munich. During his studies he became a prize winner in several competitions, such as "Maria Canals" in Barcelona, the Vienna International Music Competition, Axion Classics, Young Talent, Quantz and the National Instrument Competition. He also obtained the Alex de Vries, SABAM and W. Pelemans prizes and the Caecilia-Snepvangers Prize from the Belgian Music Press.
