Juan Ruiz Bandoux

Juan Ruiz Bandoux started his musical studies in Guarenas, Venezuela, and continued them at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Simón Bolívar, in the class of Professor Omar Ascanio. During his training as a bassoonist, he had the opportunity to be taught by Professors Klauss Thunemann, Sergio Azzolini, Mathias Racz, Stefano Canuti, Laurent Lefèvre, Henning Trog and Ole Kristian Dahl. At the age of 15, he was first bassoonist of the Francisco de Miranda Youth Symphony Orchestra. At the age of 19, he won the competition for bassoon in the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, where he was first bassoonist for six years and participated in the tours and the recording "Rameau in Caracas." He has worked with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, Krzysztof Penderecki and Bruno Mantovani. In 2015, he won the first prize for chamber music with the quintet Venezuela at the third Chamber Music Festival in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2018, he won the first prize at the Audimozart Competition in Rovereto, Italy. He has performed as first bassoonist with orchestras such as L'opéra de Lyon, Opéra de Bordeaux, Orchestre National de Lille, Iceland Philarmonic and the Estonian National Orchestra.
