Juan Ruiz Bandoux

Juan Ruiz Bandoux graduated from the Simón Bolívar Conservatory under the teachings of maestro Omar Ascanio in Venezuela. He has had the opportunity to take classes with renowned teachers such as Klauss Thunemann, Sergio Azzolini, Mathias Racz, Stefano Canuti, Laurent Lefèvre, Henning Trog, Ole Kristian Dahl, Sophie Dartigalongue, Kristian Kunert and many others.

He graduated  with the mention “très bien á l’unanimité avec félicitation du jury” from the “Conservatoire National de Musique et Danse de Lyon” in France, in the class of Carlo Colombo. 

At the age of nineteen, he joined the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra as “assistant principal”, where he remained for six years, participating in several recordings and albums with celebrated conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, Krzysztof Penderecki and numerous others.

In 2018 he won first place in the “AudiMozart” competition in Roveretto, Italy. In 2021 he obtained second place in the “Rossini International Music Competition”, in Pesaro, Italy. In 2022, he was awarded special prize at the “Prague Spring International Competition” in Prague, Czech Republic. 

He is regularly invited as first bassoon to play with famous orchestras such as the Opera National de Lyon, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre National de Metz, Orchestre National d’ Auvergne, Opera National de Bordeaux, Ensemble Contemporaine, Estonian National Orchestra, Iceland Symphony, Orchester National de Lille and others.

In 2022 he joined the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra as second bassoon.
