Maria Kouznetsova

Maria Kouznetsova is a Russian violinist. She studied successively at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Italy with Pavel Vernikov, at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo with Augustin Dumay, at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with David Takeno. She took master classes at IMS Prussia Cove, the Wye Valleey Chamber Music Festival and the Estate Musicale a Portogruaro. 

Throughout her career, she participated in several competitions. In 2005, she placed second in the Andrea Postacchini Competition. In 2007, she placed second ex aequo at the David Oistrakh Competition. In 2014 she won the first prize at the Guang-Ya-Chengdu Violin Competition, in 2017 she won the gold medal after the Manhattan Music Competition.

She has been deputy concertmaster at the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra since December 2021. Before that, she worked as deputy concertmaster with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. She also frequently performs with the New European Ensemble, an ensemble specialized in contemporary classical music from The Hague. As a chamber musician, she is a member of the Sonos Piano Trio and the Johannes Piano Quartet.
