Cecilia van Berkum

Cecilia van Berkum is currently graduating from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where she is studying her Masters with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho. In 2020 she obtained her Bachelor (with Honours) at the Utrecht Conservatory with Elisabeth Perry, winning the Emir Steyerberg Prize for best final exam that year. She also attended an Erasmus program at the Hochschule für Musik Freibug with Prof. Zgraggen.

For 2023-2024, she has been accepted for a second Master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig, with Prof. Carolin Widmann. She will also participate in the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchester in 2023. Her solo performances include Kurt Weill's Violin Concerto and Ethel Smyth's Concert for Violin and Horn. She successfully completed the Chamber Music Specialization at the Royal Conservatory, where she studied with the Mare Quartet and the Maris Trio.

She has had master classes and coaching from the Jerusalem Quartet, Quatuor Danel, Artemis Quartet, and Quarteto Casals, among others. She has also done an academy with the PHION, and played in the National Youth Orchestra (NJO) and Youth Orchestra Netherlands (JON). Cecilia plays on an 1893 Paul Bailly violin that is on loan to her.
