Lisanne Soeterbroek

At the age of fourteen, violinist Lisanne Soeterbroek (1984) made her début in the world-renowned Amsterdam Concertgebouw (Khatchaturians Violin Concerto) and has since performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dutch Chamber Orchestra, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, the Dutch National Youth Orchestra, the State Orchestra of Frankfurt an der Oder and the Baden-Badener Philharmonie.

Ms. Soeterbroek has been First Concertmaster of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (Belgium) since 2013. As of 2023, she has also been appointed Main Subject Teacher of Violin at Codarts Conservatory Rotterdam.

In 2020 she released her first Solo-CD with works of Bach and Andriessen with the label 7 Mountain Records.

She is the primarius of the Vespucci String quartet, www.vespuccikwartet.nl, and initiator of their productions ‘Kreutzersonata’ (2017), with film; ‘Prokofiev moves’ (2017), with dance & the children’s shows ‘de Nieuwe Kleren van de Keizer’ (2018) and ‘Peter en de Draak’ (2023), with actor. In 2014 and 2019 they recorded CDs under the label Footloose. Since the season of 2022-2023, the quartet has held their own concert series ‘Vespucci & Friends’ in Amsterdam Noord.

Ms Soeterbroek won top prizes in the Dutch National Oskar Back Violincompetition 2007 & 2011, the Padova International Music Competition 2012, the Cremona Solo Violin Competition 2010 and the ‘Internationaler Wettbewerb für Violine’ 2001. She was awarded the ‘Kersjes van de Groenekan Prijs 2007’ and the Gelderse Muziekzomer 2008 titled her the first ‘Young Artist in Residence’ in the history of this festival.

Ms Soeterbroek studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek and Vera Beths at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and obtained her Master’s degree in 2008 summa cum laude, with a distinction for ‘all-round musician’. In 2009-2010 she followed a Postgraduate Study in Graz (Austria), with Prof. Eszter Haffner.
She’s often invited as guest concertmaster at orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra London, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra.

Since 2020 Lisanne is also a portrait photographer and has made portraits of many musicians. Her portraits were already commissioned by the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Her portfolio can be found on her website, linked below.

Lisanne plays on a Ferdinando Gagliano built in 1773.
