Baiba Skride
violin
Latvian violinist Baiba Skride, winner of the 2001 Queen Elisabeth Competition, enjoys a distinguished international career as a soloist with world-class orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic. In the current season, she is Artist in Residence with the Residentie Orkest The Hague, but she is equally prominent as a passionate chamber musician within her own Skride Quartet and in duo with her sister Lauma. Skride, who plays the legendary 1724 ‘Yfrah Neaman’ Stradivarius, is a regular guest at Het Concertgebouw, where she recently debuted with her piano quartet and previously performed under the baton of Andris Nelsons.
