Julie Røssland
Julie Røssland (2000) is a highly promising Norwegian conductor who is rapidly making a name for herself internationally. She completed her Master’s degree at the prestigious Sibelius Academy under the tutelage of Sakari Oramo and Susanna Mälkki. Alongside recent performances with orchestras such as the Tampere Philharmonic and the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, she has major debuts lined up with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, among others. In 2024, she was unanimously selected for the Norwegian support programme 'Opptakt'.
Her great passion for the Norwegian repertoire was strikingly reflected in her highly acclaimed critical edition of the works of composer Geirr Tveitt. She has gained extensive experience through masterclasses with mentors such as Karina Canellakis and Esa-Pekka Salonen, and has assisted greats such as Sir Simon Rattle and Daniel Harding. Her exceptional talent has been repeatedly recognised with awards and scholarships, including from the Ingar Doblougs Foundation and the national cultural grant 'Drømmestipendet'.
