Kai Rüütel-Pajula
Estonian mezzo-soprano Kai Rüütel-Pajula has captivated audiences at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Royal Ballet and Opera, Dutch National Opera, and Opera Vlaanderen. Renowned for her dramatic intensity, her extensive repertoire includes roles such as Carmen and Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), alongside acclaimed Wagnerian portrayals of Fricka and Waltraute. Highlights of her 2025/26 season include a return to the Grand Théâtre de Genève and her debut at the Opéra National du Rhin, as well as a concert appearance with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra.
Having studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and the Dutch National Opera Academy, Rüütel-Pajula further honed her craft as a Jette Parker Young Artist at Covent Garden. She is equally distinguished on the concert stage, performing masterpieces by Mahler, Beethoven, and Elgar under the baton of conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski and Vasily Petrenko. Her global career spans prestigious venues from Dallas Opera to Teatro Real Madrid, collaborating with visionary directors like Robert Carsen and Calixto Bieito.
