Russian-born, Berlin-based conductor Valentin Uryupin has been acclaimed for his “highly-energetic, super-precise and sensitive conducting” (Der Standart) “with an elegant naturalness, always placing virtuosity above showmanship” (Bachtrack). Recent highlights have included his debuts at the Bayerisches Staatsoper conducting Dido and Aeneas and Erwartung in the Munich Opernfestspiele, and at the Staatsoper Berlin leading Carmen, concerts with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Bremer Philharmoniker, ORF Radio Symphonieorchester Wien, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic, and an acclaimed production of Tchaikovsky’s The Enchantress at Frankfurt Opera, after enjoying successes in previous seasons with Oedipus Rex and Iolanta. The 25/26 season features his debut at the Dutch National Opera conducting Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new production of Tchaikovsky’s The Maid of Orleans, his debut with the NHK Symphony in Tokyo, and concerts with the Antwerp Symphony, Romanian National Radio Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra and the Filarmonica Toscanini, Parma.
