Wiebke Lehmkuhl
Born in Oldenburg, alto Wiebke Lehmkuhl received her vocal training in Hamburg. Her career enjoyed a spectacular start: while still a student, she secured a permanent position at the Zurich Opera, followed by a debut in Salzburg under Nikolaus Harnoncourt in 2012. Since then, she has performed at renowned opera houses such as the Opéra Bastille in Paris and the Royal Opera House in London, making a significant impression in Wagner’s "Der Ring des Nibelungen".
In addition to her opera work, Lehmkuhl is a highly sought-after concert soloist with top international orchestras and at major festivals such as Bayreuth and Lucerne. She has collaborated with celebrated conductors for performances of Mahler and Bach, and featured in the opening concert of the Elbphilharmonie. Her versatile talent is also preserved on various acclaimed recordings, including J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.
