Concertstream: The Piano concerto from Grieg with Denis Kozhukhin
The winner of the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition Denis Kozhukhin is coming to Antwerp and he will be performing one of the most beloved piano concertos ever and that is hardly surprising: the iconic timpani roll that is stopped by an adamant piano chord, the unearthly beautiful melody from the slow part and the glorious splendour of the finale show Edvard Grieg at his best. Next, Antwerp Symphony English horn player Dimitri Mestdag will perform the world premiere of Mad Song, written by the American composer Geo ̄rey Gordon. And finally, the South Korean Shiyeon Sung will conduct the insane music of Bartók’s diabolically beautiful pantomime The Miraculous Mandarin.
