No matter how dark it may be outside and how obscuring the festive lighting inside, everyone wants to be seen on the dance floor. In Verdi’s La traviata, Violetta Valéry is particularly in the spotlight. In his Traviata, director Tom Goossens broadens the perspectives and has the characters grapple with the question of who gets to place whom in what light.
