Concert at the cathedrale
To mark the 450th anniversary of Rubens’s birth, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra presents a unique cathedral concert blending history, heritage, art, and sound. Composer Bohdana Frolyak has written a new cantata that creates a musical dialogue with the four Rubens paintings housed in the cathedral. Each movement reflects the master’s contours, lighting, and monumental imagination. The programme also features the Choral Symphony by Lodewijk De Vocht, former choirmaster and a figure central to Antwerp’s musical history. Internationally respected conductor Martyn Brabbins leads the evening, ensuring a concert that sets the cathedral ablaze, as only living art can.
