The Rundfunk- Sinfonieorchester Berlin is amongst Europe’s best orchestras, and with the magnificent Vladimir Jurowski they can therefore count on a leading conductor. This unique concert allows them to capitalise on their strengths. Ivan Karizna plays the solo in Shostakovich’s extremely difficult and heart-rending Cello Concerto No. 2, which the troubled Russian composer wrote for the legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich.
