opMaatorkest in concert

Since September 2012, opMaatorkest gives children from Antwerp’s primary schools the opportunity to learn more about classical music. Over a two-year period, they spend one hour a week developing their talents and learning to play an instrument during a group class. The opMaatOrkest is part of the primary school curriculum. The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra set up this initiative to give each child a chance to develop their musical skills in an informal and playful way.

At the end of the school year, all the budding orchestra members gather on the stage of the Queen Elisabeth Hall for a joyous closing concert.
