Bamberg Symphony

orchestra

The Bamberg Symphony is a world-renowned orchestra founded in 1946 by musicians who had fled from Prague, tracing its traditions back to Mahler and Mozart. Serving as a cultural ambassador for Bavaria and Germany, the orchestra is famed for its characteristically dark and warm sound. With thousands of concerts in over 60 countries, they share their musical heritage globally while maintaining a profound connection with their loyal local audience in Bamberg.

Under the leadership of its current Principal Conductor, Jakub Hrůša, the orchestra connects its historical roots with the modern era. In addition to collaborations with illustrious conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt and Manfred Honeck, the orchestra has been actively committed to sustainability since 2022 by adopting climate-friendly travel and offsetting CO2 emissions. Its global profile is further enhanced by numerous radio and CD recordings in partnership with Bayerischer Rundfunk.
