saxophone

Jess Gillam is a celebrated saxophonist and presenter who makes a worldwide impact with her energetic performances. As the youngest ever soloist at the Last Night of the Proms, she has performed on the world's most prestigious stages, from Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw to major concert halls across the US. Alongside her success on stage, she is a familiar voice at the BBC, where she presents the award-winning programme This Classical Life.

As a pioneer for the saxophone in classical music, Jess regularly commissions new works and collaborates with renowned orchestras such as the London and Munich Philharmonics. She is the only saxophonist with an exclusive contract with Decca Classics, with her albums reaching the top of the charts immediately upon release. She combines her passion for innovation with active roles as an Associate Artist and Artistic Partner at leading musical institutions.

Throughout her career, Jess has received numerous accolades, including a Classic BRIT Award and an MBE for her services to music. Despite her international success, she remains deeply connected to her roots in Ulverston, where she has organised her own concert series since the age of twelve. As a patron for various musical funds, she works tirelessly to make classical music accessible to a broad and young audience.
