Manfred Honeck
Manfred Honeck is a distinguished Austrian conductor and currently the chief conducter of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He began his career as a violinist and violist with the Vienna Philharmonic and honed his conducting skills as an assistant to Claudio Abbado. Following various positions at renowned opera houses and orchestras in Norway, Sweden, and Germany, he established an impressive international career with world-famous ensembles such as the Berliner Philharmoniker and the London Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his successes in the United States, Honeck is a highly sought-after guest conductor with top European orchestras and opera houses, including La Monnaie in Brussels and the Salzburg Festival. His artistry was recognised in 2018 when he was named ‘Artist of the Year’ at the International Classical Music Awards. He is also a regular guest with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, where he recently conducted significant performances of Bruckner’s symphonies.
