Beethoven + Stravinski = Turnage
Straightforward, confrontational and exciting. That's how Mark-Anthony Turnage's compositions are often described. High and low, jazz and classic, soul and rock: everything that moves him turns Turnage into music of his own. 'What I want to avoid at all costs in my works is classy snooze,' says the composer. So dozing off is not allowed during this concert, at which Turnage will relay his favorite pieces by Beethoven and Stravinsky with his Francis Bacon homage Three screaming popes and a brand-new percussion concerto. A musical total experience.
