Luc Van Gorp

Luc Van Gorp began his musical career at the age of eight at the music academy of Herentals. It soon became clear that playing the trumpet was his passion. He continued his studies at the Kunsthumaniora of the Antwerp Conservatory, where he was taught by the late Theo Mertens, among others. Here he earned several diplomas, including first prizes for solfège, chamber music and transposition, the first cycle diploma (hobu short type) and a diploma for trumpet.

During his studies, he played as a freelance trumpet player with several major Belgian symphony orchestras, including the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Flemish Opera, La Monnaie, Collegium Brugense, I Fiamminghi, and The Beethoven Academy. He also became a teacher at the music academies of Tessenderlo and Brasschaat. Van Gorp performed many times in various venues, both in the classical and contemporary genre, and collaborated on numerous CD, radio and TV recordings.

In the early 1990s, he completed his studies at the Brussels Music Conservatory with Guido Segers and also obtained the pedagogical diploma in chamber music. From 1990 to 1993, he was a member of the Gabrieli brass ensemble. Since 2000, he has been conductor and music director of the concert band De Broedermin in Grobbendonk. Since 2010, Van Gorp has again been a teacher and conductor at the Deurne and Wilrijk music schools. He is involved in the opMaatorkest of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Re-Mix Orchestra. In 1993, he was appointed second trumpet player with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. He also plays with the Casino Brass Ensemble and other orchestras and ensembles.
