Aziz Shokhakimov

Aziz Shokhakimov is Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and Artistic Director of the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2015 to 2021, he served as Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. As a guest conductor, he has appeared with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and the hr-Sinfonieorchester. In North America, he has conducted the symphony orchestras of Houston, Utah, Toronto, and Seattle.

Upcoming and recent engagements include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, where he will conduct the world premiere of Andrew Norman’s Trombone Concerto, as well as the Seattle Symphony. He also returns to ensembles such as the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, and the Sinfonieorchester Basel. Following their recent success at the Philharmonie de Paris, Aziz Shokhakimov returns with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, featuring works including Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony.

Highlights of recent seasons include appearances with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, RAI Turin, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. He has a close relationship with the Salzburg Festival.
