The mighty first four notes of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 are etched into our collective memory. Chief conductor Elim Chan is celebrating the 250th birthday of one of the greatest composers our planet has ever known and she is doing so with this brilliant score. For the start of our Saturday Matinee series, Elim will also be making a stop in Iceland for the mysterious Metacosmos by Anna Thorvaldsdottir. This peach of a programme is completed by crowd pleaser Sergey Khachatryan, winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2005. He will be playing the magnificent Violin Concerto by Sibelius.
Programme
