Gustav Holst’s The Planets captures the essence of our solar system in a groundbreaking, cinematic style. The opening of Mars, the Bringer of War alone reveals his profound influence on generations of (film) composers. During this concert at The Planets, you will also enjoy a video projection with images from NASA.

Claude Debussy’s Nocturnes offers a contrasting journey, painting vivid atmospheric sketches of sunlight’s glow, clouded skies, and the sirens’ haunting song. Like Holst, Debussy masterfully integrates the choir in the final movement, creating an otherworldly allure that is both enchanting and irresistible.
