Sol Gabetta returns to Antwerp, following her stunning performance of Lalo’s concerto last season, this time captivating audiences with Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Heralded by Gramophone as ‘one of the best around’, Gabetta’s performance is a masterclass in balancing stillness and glorification, imbuing the piece with profound emotion. Maestro Hankyeol Yoon, renowned for his mastery of orchestral timbres, leads the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra through this poignant journey, culminating in Strauss’s majestic Tod und Verklärung. A concert not to be missed by lovers of deep musical expression.

Unfortunately, due to illness, Mikko Franck has had to cancel his visit to Antwerp. Whilst we regret his absence and wish him a speedy recovery, we are delighted to present the rising star Hankyeol Yoon as his replacement.

Since winning the Herbert von Karajan Young Conductors Award in 2023, the career of this Korean conductor has taken off. With impressive debuts with Munich Philharmonic, Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia and Seoul Philharmonic under his belt, his visit to Antwerp promises to be a special musical highlight. The programme remains unchanged.
