Inaugural concert: Marc Albrecht conducts Mahler 3

For his festive inauguration as chief conductor of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Marc Albrecht makes a major statement, conducting Mahler’s Third Symphony. Joined by the choir and children’s choir of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, this monumental work begins with the chaos of creation and concludes with the endless light of God. Mahler explores great questions of human destiny and nature’s primal forces – themes close to Albrecht’s heart. His Antwerp Symphony Orchestra debut in 2024 featured Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra, a piece similarly inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s text. Marc Albrecht keeps the audience captivated throughout this existential masterpiece.
