Richard Egarr

Richard Egarr is a versatile conductor and harpsichordist who effortlessly connects the gap between historically informed performance and modern symphonic orchestras. He holds key positions with the Residentie Orkest and the St Paul Chamber Orchestra, having also led the Academy of Ancient Music for many years. His impressive career has taken him to world-renowned stages such as the Concertgebouw Orchestra and Glyndebourne, specialising in Baroque repertoire and the grand oratorios of Händel and Bach.

The 2025/26 season features various international tours and collaborations, including projects with the Netherlands Bach Society and the Belgian National Orchestra. In addition to his conducting, Egarr is a celebrated soloist and performs with his wife as Duo Pleyel, with whom he is currently working on an ambitious Beethoven project. His extensive, award-winning discography and his background as an organist and professor at institutions such as Juilliard underscore his status as an authority in the classical music world.
