Devotees of the cello, take note! This programme celebrates the instrument’s rich character with two exceptional soloists. Giovanni Sollima joins the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra for the world premiere of his reconstruction of Respighi’s unpublished Cello Concerto. It’s a masterful blend of early Italian treasures and modern originality. The journey continues with Anna Clyne’s Sound and Fury, a reimagining of Haydn and Shakespeare. Finally, British cellist Laura van der Heijden makes her highly anticipated debut alongside conductor Stephanie Childress, performing Walton’s soulful, Romantic Cello Concerto, a work of pure lyrical beauty.
